Drake’s doing great.

Sorry for the long delay in keeping up here, some of it is life getting a bit busy, some of it is a block to forming the right words, getting them out of my head and to the keyboard. I want to take a moment to thank all the readers of this blog, especially those who have come by the store, sent me emails, or contacted me otherwise to express your sentiments about Drake. I never expected the connections, your willingness to share your related stories, and sort of the unspoken words of understanding. Sometimes words just don’t cut it, yea?

We’ve been hitting the fishing and the park hard. Drake is his usual energetic self, nutty and crazy, and brilliantly intelligent, an unending stream of pleasant surprises and entertainment. I think, though, he is enjoying the hugs and belly rubs he gets at the store, and massages after a long walk / run in the park too much. Maybe he’s getting spoiled a bit, but he wears it well.

Things are progressing, though. The bump on his head is getting larger, and I think sometimes he has pressure or pain. He’s on a mild pain reliever which seems to help, but nothing works better than getting on the boat and standing on the deck at full speed. Man that keeps that tail waggin’. When it’s hot and the lake is busy, we hang around the house and he lays down in front of a fan while I chip away at the domestics. If it’s really hot, we’ll go down to the basement and work where it’s cool. Drake likes the cool, smooth cement on his tummy.

Well, off for now. More later, just wanted to catch everyone up on how he’s doing. We have today, and we’re going to make the most of it whether it’s fishing or just hangin out together. Either way, you can trust… I’ll keep his tail waggin’.
