Catch and Release

Whether you use flies, lures, or live bait, we strongly advocate the use of barbless hooks or “bent down” barbed hooks, immediate hooksets, and above all catch and release of predator fish, preferring panfish for the table. For all live bait use, circle hooks are the only way to go…dump the old fashioned “J” hook like you did the typewriter and the rotary telephone.  See our entire section on circle hooks.

With the technological advances available to taxidermists, there is just no good reason to kill a fish you want to have mounted. A simple picture with some sort of size reference (like your arm) in the background, or a length measurement is all a good taxidermist (we can refer you to one) needs to create a cast mount you will be please with for a lifetime.  You can let the fish go and live.

Research has proven where catch and release are mandatory that fish numbers, and size improve dramatically. This means more fish and bigger fish for you, your family, and friends…forever.
